About This Property

Set on the mountainside just above the town of Cañar, this property has spectacular views of the Lujar Mountains and down to the Mediterranean coast. Cañar is a well maintained town which has a couple of bars, a pharmacy and cash machine.

Interior:

The property is access via a gated driveway down to the front of the property which has a lovely open porch area with stone tiled floor and traditional roof.

Entering the property through the large solid door, there is a long hallway that runs the whole length of the property. To each side there is access to each of the other rooms.

The first room to the right is a fully fitted kitchen with amenities such as fridge, washing machine, oven, 4 ring gas hob and extractor. This room has plenty of light with the window looking out into the patio area.

To the left is the first of four bedrooms. This bedroom is a good size and easily accommodates a double bed and desk or wardrobe. Next to this bedroom, again to the left of the hallway is the lounge with a glass fronted fireplace providing a central focus to this room.

On the other side of the hall is the first of the modern bathrooms. Clean and spacious, this bathroom has a shower, toilet, bide and sink with vanity unit. It also has a heated towel rail for warmth and hanging damp towels to dry.

The second bedroom currently has twin beds and with a large window to the far end is also bright and airy. Again this room can easily accommodate a double bed as well as storage for clothes and bedding etc.

The third bedroom is at the far end of the property and like all of the other rooms, has a large window that provides ample light. Any of these three bedrooms would also make an excellent office space for work if needed.

The second bathroom is similar in size, or maybe a little smaller, but has all of the same facilities, with a screened shower unit, toilet, bide and sink unit.

The fourth bedroom is set up as the main bedroom and has a substantial double bed and wardrobe space. A bright room with views out over the valley to the mountains on the other side.

All of the living space is on one level, but going to the back of the property, there is a set of garage doors that open into a spacious lower car garage and storage area.

Exterior:

There are two main entrances to this property. The first is a set of large metal gates at the head of the long driveway down to the front of the property. This driveway also continues down to the side of the house providing access to the garage area behind and below the main dwelling area. The second entrance can be accessed off the main road and leads in to the lower part of the land. This is more of an agricultural access used when olives are being harvested for example.

This property boasts a one and a half hectors of land with a variety of trees and plants. There are around two hundred and fifty olive trees as well as cherry, grapes, chestnuts etc. The current owner has worked an area of the land into a small vegetable garden which produces all of the vegetables needed for the family.

What makes this property really special is that it has a large permanent spring that provides water all year round. The spring is on the upper part of the land and the whole area has irrigation tubing for watering the numerous trees across the land. The spring is shared with the neighbour as at one time both properties were under the same ownership. That said, this is one of the few properties where continuous water is not an issue – even in the long hot summer months. And to assist in water management, close to the spring there is an alberca (large water tank) to hold reserves if needed. As well as the spring water, this property also enjoys a good number of hours of acequia water (irrigation water channelled to the property from the mountains).

This property is within walking distance of Cañar which is a traditional town with some basic facilities including bars and pharmacy. A 25 minute drive will take you to the town of Órgiva, a lively, thriving market town situated roughly midway between the Mediterranean coast and historic Granada, the provincial capital. The coast is around an hour away to the south and Granada around an hour and fifteen minutes away to the north.

 Services:

Mains water, Mains Electricity and waste drainage by septic tank. There are hot water radiators in the bedrooms – the heating system is oil fuelled (regular deliveries available) with a large tank in the garage . The house has facilities for internet and telephone services which can be connected to the property with the appropriate contracts.
